The Glenville Senior Center has reopened with only small group activities with COVID-19 measures in place. At this time, there are still some classes and activities that we cannot offer. For example, the library is closed, the free table and puzzle table are suspended, and we are unable to accept donations of materials, books, puzzles or blankets.
For those small group activities that have resumed, (see abbreviated schedule of classes and event in Sep-Oct Newsletter) you must make arrangements with the instructor as class sizes will be limited.
Please refrain from coming to the Center if you cannot meet the following conditions:
With your cooperation, we will be able to offer the activities listed in the Senior Moments flier and at this site as we move toward the day when these extra safety measures are not needed.
Continue to watch this space as a schedule of events and activities is developed. Or email email@example.com or call her at 518.688.1221, for up to the minute information.
Don't forget to vote for officers by October 2, 2020. Download Ballot.
Located just a stone's throw from the Schenectady County Airport, the Center provides exciting social experiences for seniors (aged 55 or more), including organized games, sports leagues, exercise classes, social events, bus trips, a daily lunch program, local transportation, and more.
With over 1100 members, the Center is run almost entirely by member volunteers. Scotia/Glenville residents can join for $15.00 per year. Non residents can join for $25.00 per year. Download Membership Form. Membership includes access to all facilities and normal activities. Look into our transportation program. Classes, trips and special events available at a reasonable cost.
Do you like to play cards? What about bocce? Pickle ball? Cribbage? Tai Chi? Mah Jong? Golf? Bowling? Knitting? Quilting? Darts? Maybe chess or checkers? Maybe you'd like to learn to paint, or take a safe driving course, go on trips, or have a good lunch now and then. How about an exercise class or two? Maybe you'd just like some good conversation. It's all here. And if it isn't here already, maybe you can help organize it. Volunteers are always welcome.
Construction of an addition to the Center that will provide 1400 square feet of new space is nearly complete and should be available soon after the Center reopens.
The new space will include a new craft room with sink and cabinets, more office space for volunteers and center coordinator, and a multipurpose recreation lounge. As part of this effort, the Town has agreed to install new exterior doors, flooring and an audio visual system in our large multi-use room, improve exterior security lighting and resurface the parking lot.
These improvements, which will greatly enhance the size, variety and utility of the existing facility, will enable enhancement of programs available to our seniors and to other community groups who currently use the Center.
Talk to the receptionist on duty, take a tour, or just wander around and check out what's going on.
